Think of Drive as client(s) to NAS sync, Cloudsync as public cloud(s) to NAS sync and Hyperbackup as NAS backup. IF remote access and sync is important for you, I think it is imperative you setup OpenVPN on your NAS but that is an entirely different thread which is rehashed at least 5 x / week in this sub.You should research a bit and set up a solid Hyperbackup backup strategy to backup your NAS to external storage, another NAS, or the cloud using the 3/2/1 strategy.You can still run cloud sync to keep live copies of your GDrive / DropBox / Onedrive accounts on your NAS.It is simple to create share links for files / folders from the Synology Drive Server app.synced content can be anywhere on your client, it doesn't need to live in your local GDrive folder. Build 2 way sync tasks to keep all of your selected folders in sync with the "cloud" copy on your NAS.Set up Synology Drive Server on your NAS and Synology Drive Clients on your PC / laptops / macs.If you prefer to wean yourself from public clouds for economic / security / other reasons, you can basically duplicate all the functionality using just your NAS. Set up cloud sync with 2 way sync to keep a live copy of your GDrive on your NAS.If you are not paying for Google Storage and never plan to need to due to storage growth, or if you are paying for Google storage and don't mind it, I would suggest continuing to rely on GDrive. I've been searching through threads here but I'm still struggling to wrap my head around my overall use & backup strategy as I migrate into storing my data on the NAS. I'm NAS newb, and from what I understand I could also replicate what I get out of GDrive using the Synology sync apps and eliminate it from the complexity, but I'm pretty deeply embedded with my use of Google Docs, Sheets, file syncing, etc. I'd like to backup the contents of my GDrive to my NAS and I'm trying to understand the differences between these two methods or the best way to do it:ġ.) I was wrong before, of those 12 items, two are useful to Sonarr, #2 and #8 (because they have series and episode info), everything else is noise to Sonarr. ![]()
